Zoom meeting is my distance learning video tool of choice for controlled video conferencing.  

Using the meeting password (now required) and meeting waiting room (now required) allow the host to control who can enter the meeting.

Moreover, Zoom allows the host to turn off video and mics of participants during a meeting.  The host can turn them back on one by one if desired.  Other platforms do not allow that control.  

Screen sharing also has more host control, as you can turn off the ability for others to share during the meeting.
